The holidays are over, and the New Year has arrived. You’ve probably already started packing away decorations, finding new homes for the kids’ toys, and maybe even doing a little purging. But here’s my advice: don’t tuck away that fancy glassware just yet!
The holiday season is wonderful because it gives us built-in excuses to host and create special moments. But why let that mindset fade just because December has come and gone?
I’m making a case for using your favorite hosting dishes and fun glassware in your everyday life. Think about it: your morning orange juice served in a sparkling crystal coupe? Très français, don’t you think?
Or how about this: everyone’s feeling snacky on a Saturday afternoon? Instead of tossing crackers onto a standard plate, create a simple charcuterie board with cut vegetables, nuts, and prosciutto, served on a scalloped dish or something equally lovely.
And let’s not forget the joy of displaying these treasures. A beautifully etched wine glass can sparkle on open shelving, even when it’s not in use. Plus, having it out in the open might inspire you to reach for it more often—even if it’s just for a glass of ice water with lemon.
Using your favorite dishes and glassware is my favorite way to honor all the beautiful and unique pieces you’ve collected. After all, why save all the good stuff for special occasions when every day deserves a little celebration?
